Afternoon Shadows
The summer sun on a late afternoon can create beautiful shadows and atmospheric effects. The buildings lined up along the road were perfectly bathed in the golden afterglow of the day. This scene was well suited for rendering in pastel. I was very pleased to be neither a minute too soon nor a minute too late to capture the essence of such a lovely image.
Nightlight was created as a result of a nocturne painting assignment. Late one summer evening I came upon this scene along a cottage lakefront road. The street lamp took center stage by flooding the road, trees and white fence with soft light. I could not resist the quiet shapes and beautiful shadows of that lovely summer evening.
Slow Rolling on the Chittenango
Toward the end of summer Mother Nature seems to slow down. The creek just above Chittenango Falls ambled along at a slow but peaceful pace reminding me that each season has its own way of doing things. I hope you feel some of this peace as you view Slow Rolling on the Chittenango.
